WHAT IS “DARK MONEY”
Financial influence over politicians, including their decisions to fund programs, appropriate tax dollars, pass legislation, block legislation, make leadership decisions, silence citizens, influence and pressure on other legislators, block elections, and more.
It is not money that is earned by the hard labor of Americans.
Some of the money comes from your faithful financial support of politicians that you were convinced would SERVE the people.
Some of the money is pitched back and forth between politicians through PACs (political action committees).
Some of the money comes from corporations and their associated PACS.
Some of the money comes from professional associations, labor unions, LAWYERS, and likewise.
Some of the money comes from fake PACs, foreign oligarchs, special interests, and foreign governments.
PACS – Political Action Committees
A PAC is a ‘non-profit’ that collects, raises, and trades money into the PAC account
THEN those funds are given to candidates and politicians for influence.

Rep. Gino Bulso (R- Dist. 61-Brentwood) has officially filed House Bill 0026 (HB0026), entitled the Unborn Child Protection Act of 2025 which, if passed, will reaffirm, “Human life begins at fertilization,” and that, “An unborn child is entitled to the full and equal protection of the laws that prohibit violence against any other person.”
The bill is based on already existing federal laws banning the mailing of or receiving in the mail abortion pills, and states, “a manufacturer, distributor, seller, or reseller, of an abortion-inducing drug shall not mail or deliver an abortion-inducing drug into this state.” Consequences for violations of this law that result in the death of an unborn child would cause the responsible entity to be liable for damages in the amount of $5,000,000.

POLITICS AND SCHOOL VOUCHERS
LOOK WHO LOST IN 2024
Several Tennessee incumbents lost in Thursday’s Republican primary elections
Longtime Republican lawmakers like Frank Niceley and John Ragan lost their seats on Thursday.
Republican Rep. Bryan Richey also lost to Tom Hatcher in a race to get his party’s nomination in a race to replace retiring Senator Art Swann. Richey served as a state representative since 2022 and was running for a seat in the Tennessee Senate this year.
A Republican senator from Bristol, Jon Lundberg, also lost his party’s nomination to Bobby Harshbarger. Lundberg has been a state senator since 2016 and only captured around 48% of the vote.
Republican Representative John Ragan from Oak Ridge lost to Rick Scarbrough, a former police chief in Clinton. Ragan represented his district in the House of Representatives since 2011 and captured around 47% of the vote.
Scarbrough’s campaign was marked by around $14,400 in aggregate contributions by the Team Kid PAC — a group that gave money to candidates who either advocated for universal school voucher proposals or did not speak against them.

DARK MONEY REPORTED BY THE SCENE – JULY 2024
“The governor has called the dogs in,” Warner said. “He wants this school choice bill to pass, I guess before he leaves office. They’ve got the money and he’s called them in here, and they’re attacking true conservatives.”
Beathard’s supporters estimate that approximately $700,000 has been spent by dark money PACs, with Tennessee Stands estimating that around $900,000 has been spent by PACs in support of Reeves.

STATE OF TENNESSEE CONTRACTORS
CORECIVIC – operate 14 private prisons in Tennessee
MAXIMUS – manages child support enforcement and collection
YOUTH VILLAGES – houses children in foster care and group homes
2024 – 2025 BUDGET
CORECIVIC – 43,199,792
MAXIMUS – 11,278,548 + 4,534,301 = 15,812,849
YOUTH VILLAGES – 7,451,424
The government claims that Maximus provided false information about its performance. Instead of scoring calls randomly, which the contract required, Maximus allegedly encouraged its quality monitors to select specific calls that would show better results. By choosing calls that were easier to rate highly, the company was able to report artificially high quality scores. These inflated scores made it seem like Maximus was doing a better job than it really was.
Four Pharmacists Sentenced in $13M Health Care Fraud
The problem with this, according to the U.S. government, is that the Census Bureau used these scores to determine how much money Maximus should receive. Since the scores were misleading, Maximus ended up receiving higher payments, known as “award fees,” than it should have. These payments were meant to reward Maximus for performing well on the contract, but the company’s dishonest reporting led to it being paid more than it deserved.
